beautiful in poetry

the things you think you are beautiful in spite of
are the things that actually make you beautiful
the things that are distinctive
the things that make people stare
are also the reasons why they keep staring
no one keeps looking at the dull normal
no one makes note of the base average
when the conventional ones pass us
they pass us like summer clouds
gone and forgotten
the things that make you an exception
are the things that make you exceptional
which is a burden if you don’t embrace it
which is a blessing if you can let go
if you ever meet that mythical person
who wants to have sex with
someone who is average
run like hell
he is the world’s most boring man
