Way too much sickness in Life as a Mom of 2 boys.....and a girl!!

We have dealt with so much sickness since I wrote my last entry. Omg. And I am still trying to get over a cold that just doesn’t want to leave. Today is day 18 of this darn cold. So, anyway, starting February 13th Cody was getting so many fevers. Like daily low grade fevers that would come and go with medicine. Then one day he woke up with a really sore neck and he was crying when he moved around which seemed so strange to me so I took him to the doctors. Turned out he had an ear infection in one ear, fluid in the other ear and they weren’t sure what was up with his neck (their doctor sucks, I am looking for a new one) so they said if his neck was still sore by the evening to take him to the ER.

So we spent 4 hours in the ER that night. The whole family. Miles got into everything and drove us crazy (he is 2.5 now). So we found out that yes he had an ear infection and fluid in the other ear so the doctor had given us amoxicillin to use and the hospital gave us ear drops as well. The neck thing was a swollen lymph node caused by the ear problems but they had us come back to the hospital the next day to get an ultrasound on it just in case. So, time goes by and he is still feverish every day. His neck got better but then he broke out in a full body rash like nothing I have seen before. I was worried it was a virus called fifth disease which is highly contagious and can affect me and the baby. So we take Cody back to our shitty doctor and they say his ear infection is still there, so they give him more meds and the doctor says he’s worried Cody has a rare, serious illness called kawasaki disease which could affect his heart so Mike and I were freaking out. He referred us to another doctor the next day who seemed awesome. He looked at Cody’s rash and told me that all Cody had was a bad reaction to antibiotics. What a relief! And apparently his ears were fine now even though his doctor said different just the day before.

So after all that Cody’s fevers stopped and he was fine. 17 days of sickness! During this time, Miles also had a couple feverish days and I caught a bad cold and ear infection and it was just crazy. Now I am the only one left with a cold which doesn’t want to leave. I had to take Cody to the hospital the other day too just to make sure his heart wasn’t involved in the sickness. The doctor didn’t think so but it’s always good to double check. He and I also had to get blood tests as well. That’s always fun with a 4 year old lol.

So now I am 34 weeks pregnant and having the baby in 5 weeks!! I am huge and it is really hard to walk around. We went to the mall recently and even walking around there was tough which sucks because the weather is starting to get nice here. So I am doing what I can and basically counting down until the baby is here. I feel okay other than huge and tired often. Luckily I nap when Miles naps and attempt to sleep from 10 to 8 each day.
