So, meeting day.
We met with a gentleman named Dakota, as Mr. Fillmore is obviously at work in Ottawa.
He called the Immigration office to find out the current status of our file, which is still in “Received” and will remain there until December. Wait time is now 26 months..
As it was told to him, it sits for 18 months before its even looked at. At that point they look at MY side, which is fairly quick, and see if its to be approved or not, THEN then last 8 months are used to look at HIS paperwork..
Paperwork was ACTUALLY received in Ottawa in June, NOT September, which is when the Lawyer notified us it was received, and, so this is why December is when it will move into Processing…
We talked as well on Bill C-6. Dakota has told us that once it is passed and it WILL be passed, that it WILL come into play for us.
BUT we do not know ALL that it will contain yet, not even they know all the details, he has said that he will keep us informed.
So sadly, he will be unable to work until late late late 2017 early 2018, unless of course the of Bill C-6 has something work-visa related involved in it as well.

Soooo think i may be looking into part time job-ing possibly just to get things down and done by December so that my finances are shiny, and hopefully get some savings in the account.
Also he suggested we get letters from family and friends regarding our relationship and its growth and send those in and he said if we can not submit them ourselves through the website, we are to take them to him and he will get them to the office for us.

If you didn’t get it from my earlier post, my day didn’t go well I had a shift at work tonight which proved to be my breaking point when my manager asked me how it went.
Talk about crying on her shoulder, I literally did just that.

And now after reading posts from another acquaintance, I am more determined now to get even more work on the go to get more money raised/set aside be it helping out a friend who’s offered up a casual pet sitting job, throwing some sort of fundraiser/Avon home parties when I get that back up and running, or picking up another retail job.

I will NOT let this get me down. I WILL NOT LET THIS GET US DOWN.
If any one wants to help out, sharing the gofundme page (link above at the end of original post) to try and reach some new eyes would be wonderfully appreciated, as well if anyone has any fundraiser ideas to throw my way… thinking on maybe hitting the weekend market for a weekend or two with baked goodies, and maybe some items to sell if I can get anything together in the next month or so.

I WILL NOT LET THIS GET US DOWN.

Wow. That is such a long, long way away. That must be so hard to try and work with. When M was getting his Australian residency, I was surprised at how fast it went, to be honest. But it didn't matter anyway, because it was time for us to come back here anyway. It's just so hard trying to make it through all that time when one partner can't work. I still don't really understand the reasoning behind that. If you let them work while they wait on clearance, they can pay taxes. They're already in the country, so surely it's not anything to do with worrying about them absconding and hiding out somewhere in the country. So weird.

i know, its so stupid, and because there was such a period between his visa expiring and us getting into see the lawyer, there was no way for us to get his work permit reassigned because it was just to long of a time line...

Yeah, I didn't even consider that part. It just seems like a really stupid rule. I don't know anyone who could just casually afford that process. Ugh.

me either, but there IS a new bill that's in the works now that Dakota is positive will help in our situation, we're just not sure how yet, and the fact that it still needs to be passed.
