It was a lovely day today, full of sunshine and birdsong , just like spring. It was quite mild, though Hubby was going around saying he was freezing and putting on an extra bar of fire. He makes me laugh. Last week when we went out on really cold evening he said he was sweating and wanted the car window open!
I spent the afternoon in the garden. The first time this year that I have gone out there for more than a few minutes. We hung the bird feeder house that Cat bought me for Christmas in the fir tree where the cats can’t get to it, The minature daffodils are out and the purple crocuses in the lawn. The big daffodils have been out for several weeks, the first time I have ever known them to come out in January.
We had a great 70th birthday family get together for Hubby last Saturday. Cat and David came up from Cardiff, Tony brought Justeen. Chris looked tired as he has just been promoted to manager at the timber mill and the hours are longer. Her is saving the extra money to convert his basement into a seperate apartment to let.
We had the birthday meal at the Skirrid Mountain Inn which is the oldest inn in Wales and supposedly the most haunted. In medieval times they held courts there and sentences of death were carried out on the spot! They have a noose hanging in the stairwell. Cat asked me if it was the original one but I said I very much doubted that.
A couple of weeks ago the crisis line that I volunteer for had their Christmas party. That was a great night. The majority of our volunteers are over 60 and they had a group playing sixties music. I think the group, by the look of them, had been playing since that music was new, but they were great and it was fun to see many of the older people dancing, doing the jive and the twist.
Next Sunday is our 40th anniversary. We are going away for two days to Ironbridge in Shropshire so looking forward to that.
