I don’t know if y’all have seen it on the news, but we are getting tons of rain down here. Some parts of the state have received 20 to 30 inches in the past few days. It’s really bad. Thousands are homeless due to the floods. It’s not the eastern part of the state that gets hit regularly because of the Mississippi, it’s the Western, Northern, and some of the Central. Rivers are 10 to 15 feet above flood stages and still rising. Evacuations are still happening. It’s scary. My house is high, and I’m safe, but even around here the flooding has gotten rough. Many of the people around here are flooded out, or flooded in (can’t get out due to floods.) It’s so different than when Katrina hit, though. All you saw then was the negative, the ugly, the looting, the crimes, etc. These are different people. You see video after video of neighbor helping neighbor. No looting, no crimes, just people hunkering down and waiting out the waters. It’s going to get worse before it gets better. There’s more rain today and then runoff to deal with. So the evacuations continue. We were out Thursday and Friday due to the weather, I’m hoping we go back on Monday. Some parts of the state will be out longer, for sure. So, if you have a prayer or good thought to spare, there are a lot of people down here who could use them. Thanks!!
