well my spring break is officially over and it’s back to reality already. i work the next two days and then it’s back to school/internship. the good news: i have a month and a half left of the semester. the bad news: everything else.
i had a lot of fun on my vacation but it definitely had its bad moments. there were 22 of us in our group so we took 5 vehicles. there were 4 of us in the car i rode in. the plan was to leave at midnight sunday and take turns driving. that would mean we would arrive at our hotel in port canaveral, florida around 5pm sunday. of course, things don’t go as planned. we ended up leaving at 2am. we had car trouble in tennessee and lost nearly 2 hours because of it. all of that combined with all the time wasted for stopping for gas/food/etc. caused us to arrive at our hotel at nearly 11pm. we were exhausted.
for those who have never been on a cruise before (i hadn’t until this past week), i’ll explain a little how ours worked: there was four people in our room, and they give everyone a sea pass card that works just like a hotel card that opens the door to your room. they offer drink packages - which includes water, soda, and alcohol for so much money a day and then you can just swipe your card every time you get a drink. i was the only 21 year old in our room so i was getting exhausted by going from bar to bar to buy drinks for my roommates. late monday night after dinner (the first day of our cruise) we ended up getting caught by staff during the process. they take a picture of you when you get on the ship that pops up each time they swipe the card. we got a little cocky because they weren’t checking, so i was sending two or three girls with my card to buy drinks so i wouldn’t have to. we got scolded and my card got banned for 24 hours. i was sooo scared because i was afraid i was going to get in legal trouble but i never did. a few of the other people in my group got in trouble too but nothing came of it.
on the second day we were in cococay, bahamas which was absolutely beautiful. there wasn’t much to do, though and we didn’t want to pay for extra shore excursions so we just swam and laid on the beach. the third day we were in nassau. all of us took a taxi to the beach in the morning and it was $20 all you could drink with a coconut to drink out of. needless to say, we were all pretty trashed. the water was beautiful and cold but i was afraid to get in because the current was so strong and i’m not a good swimmer. we went to margaritaville for lunch where i consumed a huge strawberry margarita. we promptly went back to the boat and i passed out for awhile. then we went to senor frogs for dinner and more drinks and ended up drinking there until 11pm when we had to get back on the ship. there was a party happening on the pool deck where we spent a few hours. the fourth day we were just sailing so we spent most of the day recuperating from our sunburns and eating ice cream.
being a cruise ship is pretty cool because they serve food ALL day. there’s a buffet all day long and there was another cafe that sold sandwiches and desserts late at night. dinners were pretty formal - three courses and you could order however much food you wanted. it was all included in the price of the cruise so you never had to pay for it. there was karaoke in the lounge every night after dinner and it was so fun to dance and sing.
i did experience some seasickness which i didn’t expect at all. luckily we had dramamine. overall i had a pretty good trip but i’m not sure if the cruising life is really for me. it’s actually quite expensive. if i count the costs for my passport, the cruise + gratuities and the amount i spent at the restaurants in the bahamas, i probably spent over $1000. which isn’t terrible i guess, but it’s pretty pricey for a broke college student. but i definitely don’t regret going.
tiffany’s parents picked us up from florida with a car trailer because they think her transmission was going out. we left around 8am central time on friday morning and i got back to my dad’s house at 5am saturday morning. we ran into SO much traffic.
while we were driving, cole was getting drunk at a party and was texting me nonstop. he kept telling me come home, that he missed/loved me. none of this was surprising me because he gets affectionate and super nice when he drinks so i’m kinda used to it. but all of a sudden he texted me, “i like you so much.” and i was SO confused and nervous about it. i asked him what he meant and he said “i don’t know” so i kinda brushed it off and told him it was okay. then he said “okay but i do” and i replied “okay but how drunk are you right now?” in which he said “i don’t know but i like you.”
at that point i knew he wasn’t sending me a typo or anything like that so i said “i’m not really sure what you mean by that” and he just apologized and the subject was dropped. he was drunk to the point of throwing up and i’m not sure that remembers our conversation, but i also know that he probably reread our texts. or maybe he didn’t and has no idea what he said. i saw him today and the subject was never brought up because i wasn’t sure how to bring it up and of course he’s not going to. i have no idea what to do. on one hand - i feel like i definitely know he likes me now and i can express my feelings. but what if he was just feeling emotional, or he didn’t mean it? it’s terrifying and i don’t know what to do. ADVICE, PLZ?
i guess i’m just going to wing it. that’s what i’m used to doing.
