I very much doubt it - still you kind of hope a tradition (if that is what you might call it) might persist somewhere.
February 29th was a key factor in the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, The Pirates of Penzance, where it is discovered that the hero, far from being 21 years old, was born on Feb 29 - and was only 5 and a quarter. That show was the first time I had appeared on stage as a principal at school - I had an east Essex accent - and I had to go through the same process as Eliza Doolittle - now my vowels are disguised under a middle class veneer - but I can hear them if I am recorded.
Anyway - enough of this persiflage (look it up)
The saga of the lock and the key was solved when they found a piece of grit which was stopping the key working - I hope that is that!
The commemoration ceremony for an old colleague was really very good, and even uplifting, as friends and colleagues reminisced - and there was a glass of wine and some food afterwards. I think he would have been amused, and rather pleased at what was said.
IF anyone in the UK has not seen the BBC adaptation of The Night Manager by John Le Carre get on to it - great pace - and great acting.
Still watching the Icelandic drama on Saturdays - lots of snow, lots of chill and lots of dead people - SW… has given up on it - mainly because she falls asleep - also because it seems to be too dark for much of the action - it is winter in Iceland!!!
And good luck to all Welsh persons tomorrow - St David’s Day - a time for displaying a daffodil or a leek.
And so glad Mark Rylance got an Oscar - a great Thomas More in Wolf Hall - an actor of subtlety - just a look in his eyes and a twitch conveys so much - genuinely a nice fellow.
As I said, enough of this persiflage (look it up)
Enjoy these
