95% in A small but passable life.

I thought I’d be able to complete this lifetime as a landless peasant. No such luck. My brother and I now own the RV lot and everything on it.

Anyway, it took us nearly a week to go through every piece of paper in the house, shredding most of it and filing what was left. I spent a little over a day doing nothing but
shredding.

Twenty years worth of paper!

We’ve completed 95% of the plan.

The only deviation from the original plan was the car. We changed the car title from the trust back to Mom. And we’ll leave the insurance in her name. She insists she’ll eventually be able to drive again. And I’ll let her try. Which means if she wrecks it again it’ll be all on her. Her last “little fender bender” caused $2500 worth of damage to her car, which she took out a loan to pay. If she wants to drive I don’t want to be the owner of the car or the insurance plan.

And speaking of loans, we found four outstanding loans and three credit cards with outstanding balances. Mom has a credit score of 785 so all she has to do is make a call or swipe a card to get any amount of money handed to her.

We cut up all but one credit card.

We closed out the main investment at Edward Jones, which was tanking, and just dropped it into a joint savings (with shit interest rate!) called “Mom’s Savings”, but in my brothers and my name. Mom won’t have access to that. We’ll pay off all the outstanding debt. Done with that nonsense.

Mom and I now have a joint “Household Checking” and a joint “Household Savings” account. My sis-in-law will have the ability to keep an eye on it.

We’ve got everything switched over for automatic deposits of Mom’s two monthly checks and automatic withdrawals for the bills.

Anyway, all that took a week. After the week here, my brother and his wife continued on West to Yuma for some desert time. They’ll be coming back through here whenever and then we’ll fine tune and tweak the plan some more.

After a week away from the pool I went back yesterday. It was almost too hot at 87 degrees outside to lay out on the lounger. Tough times, I know.
