Got a call back from the bank job… literally used the words “we went with someone with more experience.”
Honestly… it makes me wonder. Lets discuss life as though fate existed… as though the concept of fate were more than abstract… an actual controlling element… like the Inevitability Theory of Time Travel.
As I am truly obsessed with time travel, allow me to veer for just a moment. Inevitability Theory claims that there are some events that are so central to the existence (of a person, place, idea, country, etc) that that event will occur in every timeline… make any changes you wish, there are some events (so states the theory) that cannot be altered.
If Fate is understood through that… it makes me wonder.... perhaps a string of rejections… for character building or guidance or what have you… was always in my cards.
Please understand: I don’t mean that in a self pitying way!
As a genuine academic curiosity… I take a step back and consider.... my first path: Acting. Acting is so surrounded by “a string of rejections” the entire city of Hollywood (and L.A.) are punchlines. What do you call a successful waiter in LA? A working actor.
Then going to Law. Law has certainly been about rejection… rejection from Competition Teams, rejection from stellar internships, rejection from jobs.
Then trying the “random job” element… I’ve tried for Collections Offices, Human Resource Positions, Bank Jobs… all the same answer.
IF there is to be meaning in things… a purpose to specific events… perhaps, just perhaps… that is the FATE in what is going on. Dealing with rejection. Building that tough outer skin. Fully grasping what it means to hear “no” until the word itself has no meaning.
