Commit to the bit.
Live inside it.
Hope it works.

Getting booed outta town
is a damn sight better than
getting tepid applause.

Do as much as you can
without breaking any laws
then break all the laws you
think you can get away with.

You can’t mostly give up on the conventional life
but still stalk it on facebook around four AM at night.
You have to let go of it totally
before living is worth a damn.

Expectations of what comes next
are kryptonite shot into the necks
of our muses in their rockets
from the starry heavens.
Your amplifiers must go
to eleven.

And if you do that
really do that for years
but the audience still doesn’t show?
It’s their fault not yours.

Your validity does not come from acclaim
your validity does not come from making it your dayjob
your validity comes from committing to the process and
seeing it through and
hoping it works.
