the kaleozoic era in poetry

it was easy to tell which dinosaurs were herbivores
they’d never shut up about it just never shut up
“Brontosaurus Meat Is Murder” pinned to their jackets
they’d show you cave paintings about factory farms
hoping to convert you but just gross you out
they wouldn’t let oviraptors into their clubs either
eating eggs wasn’t ideologically pure enough
they’d debate the idea vociferously, of course
but mostly as an excuse to keep talking because
it was easy to tell which dinosaurs were herbivores
they’d never shut up about it just never shut up
