Frost in The View from the Terrace

How I hate these damp foggy days. Yesterday was very cold. I woke to see thick, white, spikey frost on the branches of the trees and bushes, but the skies were clear and bright and it was beautiful. If my daughter were here she would say it was like Narnia although it hadn’t actually snowed. Today there was no frost to speak of and the skies are heavy and filled with fog, really depressing.
I finally got to the folk club in Longtown on Tuesday. It’s months since I’ve been. Each month something came to stop me, once the car broke down, in November it was storm Barney, twice I was with Cat in Cardiff, and the other times I wasn’t well enough. It was lovely to be there again and several people told me they had missed me. There were some great songs and often everyone joined in. One of the singers who was sitting next to us told Hubby off for singing too loud when he joined in. He said he liked people to sing along but not to take over the lead! Hubby is like that, a complete show off.
When we came out it was a beautiful night. There was some fog in our village but up there in the Black Mountains you could see the stars. I was trying to pick out various constellations when Hubby found he couldn’t unlock the car door. It was frozen solid. One of the others came to the rescue with an anti frost windscreen spray. It took ages but worked in the end. That night turned out to be the coldest so far this year. Winter has definitely arrived.
