One more step. in A small but passable life.

Mom’s doctor appointment Thursday afternoon was a bust. He was the referral from the GP so the next step in the process, I guess. He was a ‘rods, screws, and pins’ surgeon. Mom has two cracked vertebra with ‘thin bones’. He didn’t think his type of surgery or a brace (because of inevitable skin irritation) would work. When we asked about pain meds he said the feds wouldn’t allow him to prescribe anything. So, he handed us a card to call to make an appointment with another doc who “may” be able to “cement” the cracks and “may” be able to prescribe pain meds.

So, after wasting two hours we headed back home. We had to stop at a thrift store so Mom could buy a ‘tea hat’ for a tea party she is invited to. Then we stopped at Walgreens to fill out Mom’s script for pain meds she had got from her GP. So she’s going from Hydrocodone to Oxycontin.

Yesterday afternoon I spent a few hours reading at the pool.

Another answer to ignorance:

Got to love smart people!

I’ve got two afternoons to lie by the pool before some cooler weather moves in. I don’t remember this many cool mornings or days from last Winter.

I took the desktop computer out of Mom’s sewing room. We’re going to give it to Daughter. We may be able to send it East with my brother when he comes out here to visit in a couple of weeks. So now I need to move the wifi router into the house. I’ve never messed with one before. I’m thinking- turn it off, unplug the power and cable, and then use a splitter for the cable behind the living room or bedroom TV to hook up the cable, plug in the power, turn it on, and hopefully it will work again? We’ll see.

Picking scabs again.

She was a corpse colored girl with long straight coal black hair, bruised lips, and wearing pain in her eyes.

As she walked into the early morning fog she never looked back.

It must have been a dream?
