Big and yellow
Rarely mellow
Gracie is racy
And all about what’s tasty
I know every engineer on every train
All of their children, and all of their names
Those aren’t haikus and I didn’t write them.
First is the beginning of Jim’s Gracie song.
Second is a couple lines of Roger Miller’s King of the Road.
Funny how poetry surrounds us. Words are the stuff of life.
The book guy in McGregor showed us his Shakespeare. It was from the second folio printed in the 1620s. The complete play was Titus Andronicus with the last page of The Tempest on the back of the front page and the first page of Romeo and Juliet on the back of the last page. The plays had been separated and put in the current binding in the the early 1900s. The pages were large - almost like 9 x14 copy paper - and yellow. It was something to marvel at - how it lasted all those years and then ended up at the edge of Iowa on the day before Christmas in 2015.

We went to LaCrosse today. Had lunch at Fayze’s and bought groceries at Woodman’s and looked for a floor lamp at Good Will. No lamp but I had to look at books and found two - The Women: A Novel by T.C. Boyle about the women in the life of Frank Lloyd Wright and Alice Munro’s Dear Me.
The day started out cloudy but in the afternoon the sun came out.
That’s a windshield shot of the river just north of the dam at Genoa. It’s the only one Photobucket will let me show you.

Later Gracie and I took another walk - this time up to the bottom of Joana’s hill. We saw a deer and four or five snowmobiles.
Again there are pictures that Photobucket won’t let you see.
There is a movie of Gracie beginning a walk at the end of the previous entry if you didn’t see it and want to.

Have you seen Obama and Seinfeld and the 1963 Corvette? Lovely and interesting interior and exerior shots of the White House too. See how you feel about Obama’s coolness. Also see if Seinfeld is getting to look a lot like Humphrey Bogart.

I go back to work tomorrow. We are starting at 5 am rather than 4 am. I really don’t seem to have much to say about it. Or anything. If I think of anything I will be back.
*
Have a good week everyone.
