Fast Forward the Flower Clock in Everyday Ramblings

This shot so perfectly represents most of the day I spent in the mid Willamette Valley where there was fog and hazy sun and then clouds but no rain! It didn’t rain yesterday either. On the train down to visit Kes and Most Honorable so many of the fields were flooded. But the sunrise in Portland this morning was spectacular and I saw Mt. Hood in all her very snow covered glory in breathtaking glimpses for the first time in a month.

I had a lovely Christmas and a happy day today. Although still more tired than normal and a little uncomfortable I am getting better and that is such a good feeling.

Unless I have surgery it seems as if this may be a chronic thing to deal with. I am now looking at triggers and hope that all the dental work ahead cleans up a big strain on my immune system and I can handle this all much better. I am also looking at things to help with the symptoms, using a foam roller and a hot water bottle. Oh, and maybe a stiff drink now and then…

There has been much miscommunication and frustrating confusion about wrapping up teaching at the studio and I am compromising and subbing one more class on Monday and leaving the keys and (fingers crossed) picking up a nice fat check.

I am done.

We had a very low-key gift exchange this year but I got a generous gift for a massage at my favorite spa and hope to avail myself of that shortly. Ah.

And after some rather involved moving of technology around I now have this little gadget that lets me listen to what I have on my iPad (including my favorite classical music show that I am way behind on) on a nice radio in my bedroom/office.

The headphones are wonderful, absolutely wonderful but when I am working it is not practical to listen to them because I get phone calls now and then. (I know, phone calls, how totally retro, right? It is an Internet phone though.)

Today we went for a long walk in a big historic graveyard where many of the pioneers and founders of the cities we live in are buried. The trees are varied and gorgeous. It was pretty cold so we didn’t linger too much but I got a few nice pictures and things to think about for my poems if I ever can make the time to get back to them.

As long as it is not icy, (and we have been extremely fortunate with that this year so far), S. and I are going to walk the First Run 5 K again along the river at Midnight on New Year’s Eve.

I am excited to have most of tomorrow to rest and putter but then I need to work for a few hours. I can’t wait until Saint Joe gets back Monday. He really deserved the week off as he has been working very hard the last few months.

But he is 26 and I am not and the pace of things lately is quite the challenge. And I am sure a component in my fatigue.

Seeing the mountain this morning and getting out and about did me a world of good though and I am grateful we are starting our long slide into spring. It has been wet enough and just warm enough that there are iris shoots coming up around town.

Me thinks we are going to be cranking the flower clock forward in 2016.
