I have written several entries about when I did the flood re-routes in the “Corridor”, the three mainlines, CTC Littleton to CTC South Denver. Then Main 1, Main 2 , Hogans Alley siding and LODO siding, from 31st Street to South Denver. Then the Terminal, 31st Street and 38th Street yard complex, and Rennix if needed.
Here are some of the pages of scrawled chicken scratches, that I would log into spreadsheet and email off at the end of the shift. My hours, were unofficially 900 am to 900 pm, but sometimes I was asked to report earlier. I’ll display the page and decipher below.
9945 (lead unit) 11 am/1240 pm 9704 shutdown LOST COMM ( radio communication for the DP’s) DLCP CCC Failure Fault 1122 ( Fail codes in computer) Unit Lost Link during REBOOT will take precaution and relink to 9887( other unit in remote consist ) OK @ 1240 pm Chief notified. ENGR ( engineer) OJEDA. I didn’t inspect this, due to previous inspection made at Trinidad,CO. I was called to fix the radio fault codes and reboot the main computer, which dropped the link for the DP’s. This was a 1X2 configuration, and with the 9704 down, we had to relink to the 9887.
Hogans ( Hogans Alley siding ) 0905-0915-0920 ( inspection times for the DP consist at 13thAve center number is the 203 inspection log time) Remotes (DP’s) 8840-3000 g (gallons) 5933 3800 g Lead ( Head end old 3rd Ave ) 1010-1015-1025 ) 6053 9511. I left at note on the control stand, so they knew what was inspected, I wrote the gallons for the head end on the sheet.
Note this is confusing notice the times of the entry above and below are out of sync? This entry was the next day.
9752 (920-925-935 Inspection times) #3 Prop Grnd Iso TM #3 (Propulsion Ground relay Number 3 Traction Motor 20-033 (fault code) Reset Limited PWR (power) + DYN (Dynamic braking) 6356 arrow references note above to this unit a GE ES44, which was the second unit. 9425 was the third unit. It was operated conventional as a coal empty with an ETD. I never referenced ETD’s, unless it was battery powered and below 35% used charge.
1640-45-1725 (inspect time 440-445-525pm) 9274 (2800 gal) 9309 DIC p/d FED (Dead in Consist Past due Federal inspection) 9778 (4000 gal) DP’s 9225 CCOP ( DIC due to Crankcase Over Presssure) 6208 (1600 gal this was the DP link)
5235 949-3200 7279 3000 (not shown inspection times the jumble below) 1835-1845-1850 All head end with ETD, most likely a grain empty. Was hectic, but all of the units were around the 3000 to 3200 gallon range they were fueled at Denver, and staged for a northbound route via Cheyenne-Casper-Billings. Train was at LODO (Low-Downtown) siding.
