La Junta, CO The Capri Motel and other stuff Part 2 in Tales of the Jointed Track

La Junta Feed. On the US 50 By-Pass ass well across from the depot. An old condemned Hopper is the distribution chute for farm trucks and semi tractor/trailer rigs. A new Yardmaster or supervisor, was always set up. The crew would say we have bad order or a no show car. They gave the reporting mark, of this old hopper. So the scramble was trying to car trace or AEI the number. Crews were asked not to do that anymore. LOL”.

The Elks Club BPofE… I never belonged, but in Pueblo and La Junta, this was a small “club”. I attended in 2008 here for a retirement party. I am glad I did saw many that I lost touch with.

Boss Hogs or the Hogs Breath, as it was called at one time. It was okay BBQ, plus it was about a 2 blocks walk from the Capri. The Capri had a small restaurant, very marginal, but how can ya screw up breakfast? LOL brings EM Christmas and Sons in Pueblo to mind.

This is the main “Sale Barn” site for La Junta. It was about a quarter mile from the Capri due east. Yeah, wake up about 1000 to 1100 am, after the night “Q Train” run and tie up at 200 am. Cattle and Horse sounds, Wednesday and Thursday.

Looking at the US 50 By-pass. You can see the old Santa Fe La Junta Yard, looks like a coal load waiting or changing crews for Amarillo, TX. Mid Town Motel the “Quiet Place”, two blocks… LOL really Two blocks from the yard. I can hear the slack resounding, accelerating diesels, Switch moves. Not too Quiet”. The Waterhole Liquors, dunno if they still are in business.
