daily jumble in poetry

maybe our lives are just the universe’s dreams
maddening mangled short and shuffled and ours
are taken as a reflection of that perspective
these lives that sometimes seem so very long
these lives that seem to make so little sense
these lives that never go the way we thought
these lives that feel so real and so intense
short as dreams from eternity’s perspective
swirl up by happenstance and bad invective
these lives so quickly done and capped
are like a fevered blinking
in reality’s quick nap
and make just about as much sense.

So that's why I can read both asleep and awake!
