It is funny; for the longest time I thought my greatest fear would be drowning to death. From a family of multi-generational competitive swimmers and water polo players… I could not imagine a more dishonorable death.
But as I am presently living one of my Top Five greatest fears… I don’t know if fear has the same affect it once did. I’m becoming obsessive, desperate, hopeless, listless… but a true sense of heart stopping panic simply hasn’t gripped me. I’m drowning in the emotions; the hopelessness and frustration and everything… but there is no sense of urgency or panic. Perhaps that is the difference between a fear like Drowning (urgent, imminent death) and a fear like Purposelessness.
