Dissent And The Death Of Fun in Hello

The deli manager, my manager, is retiring at the end of the year. As bad and absent minded as she is, I don't want to get the person I've heard rumored to take over.
The assistant deli manager and I sat and talked for a little while on Wednesday afternoon in the office. She has said that if her husband had not retired and they bought the house they are in now last year that she would step down as manager and go back to being a regular full time employee at her old store where she was promoted.
There is a new guy in our department who took the place of Cali Boy when he flaked a few days after he put in his two weeks.
He's loud, obnoxious, annoying.
A perfect replacement.
Found out from the boss during our talk that he's been make little notes of everything we aren't doing and giving the lists to the assistant store manager.
Oh, I failed to mention he's new to OUR store but has been with the company for five years and is the golden child prodigy of the manager rumored to take over.
Even though I'm on the mood stabilizers and the anti depressants I still had a bad day Wednesday. I had a drink craving that I have not had since getting out of the hospital.. Luckily I've had Krystal over here every night since Monday. Tonight I shall sleep alone. But I made it. One month down by Wednesdays. Tomorrow's calendar date of the sixteenth will be one month. Either or, give or take a few.
Sober.
I'm really not looking forward to work anymore. I was tolerating it and having fun. But now Art Boy, who I like talking to, has put in his two weeks notice because, "I just woke up today and thought I don't enjoy it...I'm going to quit."
In the almost four years I've been there we haven't really had much of a turn over rate. Maybe two to three a year quit or get fired? This being just in my department, mind you. I'm thinking of jumping ship and going to the machine shop through school that I heard DOESN'T make time for school...will work you hard...but you learn a ton.
I'm not too sure yet.
Weighing the options.
Plus want to see just HOW this new manager is going to be...if we get her.
I've really enjoyed not being a drunken buffoon lately.
