The Gift.

I heard the post tumbling from the letter box, that was yesterday, it was only today I thought where is my December ‘Sky at Night’ magazine, I must have something else on my mind, so I went down stairs to rumble through the things we don’t wont, brochures and a catalog’s mostly to Sweetheart.

We have a pile of such things under the phone table, and yesterday was a bumper day for bumph; and I had sorted my ‘Sky at Night’ in with the unwritten and strait to bin!

That magazine was the last gift from Gill, I hadn’t told them of my new address, and I didn’t if I would be receiving the magazine for six or twelve months, so I phoned them; it was six so the December edition will be the last. It was nice to have those six editions, I doubt I’ll be buying many magazine’s for a while, thanks Gill I enjoyed them; from now I well get my sky news from the internet.

The not so long hour long phone call!

Two weeks ago Gill’s aunty Margaret phoned me, just as I was going through the front-door to Church, I had a few words and told her a was just doing out, so she told me she would call in the week.

Yesterday I thought it was now two weeks ago, so I called her. Margaret is now in her 80’s and has problems with her legs and eyes, bur mind is still sharp. So many old people tell you about the people who live miles around, and mostly people who have been in accents; not with Margaret we have a chat.

The main problem is keeping up with her, but we have a nice catch and both notice we have been on the phone for an hour, the run down and goodbyes take another twenty minutes; she a lovely women and I shall keep up with her.

The etiquette of a Dog’s dinner.

As I’m the one at home the most I feed the dogs, I get the opened dog food from the fridge, as it is cold I put in the bowls and then out of the reach of Ziggy; and he has a long reach! I take a cup of coffee up stairs so I don’t put it out to soon.

When the food is ok I put it down in deferent rooms, the routines are the same, I stand with the bowl and tell Ziggy to ‘sit’ and then ‘stay’ Just then I have Ziggy’s attention, we look at each other for a few seconds with the bowl on the floor, then I say ‘ok’ and follow with ‘Ziggy’s a good boy’ I thought today those praises are totally lost on Ziggy; with his head down in the bowl!

Lola dose much the same, but she sits with less attention, her look at me says ‘get on with it’ But at least they do what they are told, and from that attention it works in to other situations but with out the same alertness ….
