Funerals and 'poppy fascism' in blackpropaganda

So after the alarms of yesterday I drove carefully to a funeral - luckily, as it turned out, not mine - an old colleague again - this time someone who had been ill for some time - she never married but had a very full life with many friends, and that was reflected in the turn out for the service.
It was nicely done - short and to the point - and some good hymns all pitched low enough to let me get my voice into them!!!
My line on dressing for funerals is to be smart , wear a jacket, but no tie. I am respectful without going the whole hog - in a way the service should celebrate a good life if they are of a reasonable age. I wore my poppy for Remembrance since there was still a day to go before November 11th.
I think you should be free to wear a poppy or not - a bit like a tie when not required - but there is a lot of ‘poppy fascism’ a round with people emphasising that someone ‘was not wearing a poppy’ on tv. They have a choice - it is not obligatory - and not disrespectful to the dead if you do not. You respect them in your own way. It is like people having to wear badges to show loyalty - t can be all show - and no real underlying meaning.
Anyway - after another sad occasion - jokes for NoMoJo
