Today is the 600th Anniversary of the Battle of Agincourt when the English army, using the longbow men, beat the superior French army. English history is redolent with these kinds of events, but it was crucially important at the time - and immortalised in Shakepeare’s Henry V in which the king calls all men to battle in a stirring fashion on St Crispin’s Day - today!
Here is the film of the play with Laurence Olivier as Henry V, one of the great speeches - and made in 1944 during the Second World War around the time of D Day.
Worth noting where a number of key phrases in film titles come from - We Happy Few - Band of Brothers

This PB is an educational tool!

If England had been contesting a World Cup rugby semi final this afternoon it would have been an appropriate speech for the coach - but they ain’t. New Zealand beat SA yesterday - and Australia play Argentina today. Now those really are battles!
