Not much time to read or write today....
This morning, my cell phone went off around 8. What? No! Went off again. What? I didn’t set a G.D alarm! Third time.... oh… that isn’t an alarm. That is a phone call. Phone call? Sunday Morning? What?
Apparently, one of my closest law school friends was in the area for a wedding and so the old law school crew (sans my Bestie who lives too far into Eastern Iowa to get here) got together for breakfast. Even Wife came! Then the guys went Boardgame Playing (Defenders of the Realm… one of my faves) and then went to see The Martian. I really liked that movie. I would put it in the same category as “Interstellar” and “Tomorrowland.” A film that I enjoyed that made me feel hopeful about humanity and then made me ask why we aren’t like that. Seriously… if there IS still hope for humanity… why are we holding ourselves back so much? Why do we spend so much time arguing over such small, petty bullshit? There is so much more that we need to do in this world; for the planet, for humanity, and for the future.

That being said… and

SPOILERS AHEAD

The Martian is stranded on Mars for over 560 days. Torturous, difficult, lonely. Granted… things aren’t the exact same… but it totally made me wonder how long it has been since graduating Law School to now. Because… it seems likely that we’re getting close. I did the math. November 28th of this year. The length of time The Martian spent on Mars will equal my time from Law School Graduation without a job on November 28th. It makes things interesting. To know that I watched a movie about a man waiting and struggling for something important… and knowing I’m approaching the same amount of time waiting and struggling for something important.
