This is a GREAT improvement, thanks! I mostly use the Current Author navigation, so this makes the site a LOT more usable for me. Although I use my phone and my Kindle to read, too, and I wish I had this bar there.

Have you thought about putting that stuff in the empty space in the top bar, and then making the top bar float on wide displays, but be fixed on narrow displays? That might allow more real estate for entries.

Another idea might be to put the giant Bookmark and Friend buttons on the bottom of that floating bar, so you can make the panel on the top with the writer and book names a lot smaller.

...you could even remove Write, Comments, and Bookmarks from the top bar because we already have the same thing on the left sidebar.

LOVE IT. Was frustrated with the last navigation makeover and this is a breath of fresh air.
