the Super Moon in The Stuff That's Not Interesting But Is The Most Interesting Stuff I'll Write

Things weren’t easy for a while. In fact, they were as hard as they’d ever been in my life. However, I’ve gotten through to the other side. I stuck with my job and have now landed a better one, they pay me more and seem to appreciate me in a greater capacity than my previous one. My legal issues are nearly over, and the weighty financial burden is all but taken care of. Now I can go back to planning on the future.

You know, I was walking over to my mother’s house just after dusk and I saw the tiny little wedge of the moon glowing brightly before me. When I looked at it, I could see the full shape of the moon even though only a sliver was illuminated. It got me to thinking about the recent hubbub about the so-called “super moon”. Entire groups of people disrupted their whole lives to stay up and watch the moon change color. They expected something extraordinary.

Maybe I’m too easily amazing, but I think the moon is amazing without it needing to be “super”. There is another spacial body that remains tied through no visual force whatsoever to the very soil upon which we walk. It’s movements are so precise and accurate that we actually created our concept of time based around its movements.

But it changed color for a day and you think it’s “super”? I think you’re missing the point.

We are all like the moon. We are so extraordinary that people perceive us as ordinary. We travel from one end of time to another on the path which we were meant to take. Every once in a while we will do something and someone else will decide, out of nowhere, that we deserve extra attention and convince other people of that, too. But in reality, we are just as amazing and otherworldly as we were the days before and will be on all the days after, until finally we set beyond the distant horizon.
