Skype was invented for grandparents and long distance students who need a little extra assistance. I got to have a deep conversation with my granddaughter via Skype today. She is very expressive for only 2 months old. If I could figure out the photo-bucket I would post a picture of her laughing at her daddy. It is priceless.

Next week the semester begins in full swing again. I have moved into my new office and got the pictures hung today. There are a few boxes yet to unpack and I need to find my books for the semester and complete the syllabi. This is going to make the start a bit complicated, but if I am good, I can get away with some BS for the first week.

I think my brain is overworked lately. I find I have made many mistakes in timing lately. I showed up at a meeting yesterday at the end of the meeting. I had read the time wrong on the email. Today there was a another meeting and I completely forgot to go since I was immersed in another project (unpacking my office in 90 degree heat with no air moving and sweat running down my back and into my eyes. I suppose I would not have been very welcomed into the meeting anyway. I probably did not smell very good as well.

My summer project of preserving the old sugar house (measuring 16’ x 16’) is nearly complete. It has taken 5 gallons of wood petrifier, 1 gallon of wood fill, 5 cans of foam insulation, 4 full gallons of exterior paint, replaced 12 windows, repaired two over-sized rotting doors and replaced the hinges, rehung them and now they are functional again. I still have the vents to replace or restore or come up with another idea to close the openings. It was advised to not touch the roof since cleaning it off could possibly make it worse. It seems to unattend to a building for 100 years leaves it rather difficult to restore, very dry and thirsty. I would like to post photos of it also.
