If I were a stone, I would be: Limestone with sea shell little fossils in it.

If I were a tree, I would be: Tall tough weedy walnuts who are messy and discourage other plants under their canopies. That sounds a little mean, but sorry.

If I were a flower, I would be: Anything that’s blooming RIGHT NOW, those yellow sunflower, daisy types in the road ditches.

If I were a kind of weather, I would be: What we are having RIGHT NOW, which happens to be clear and warm and bright with a warning of colder temps to come.

If I were a mythical creature, I would be: Nothing. I do not believe in myths.

If I were a musical instrument, I would be: An old dusty piano that the cat plays.

If I were an animal, I would be: A cat who plays the old dusty piano.

If I were a color, I would be: Bright and complex and blendy and unforgettable. (Two T’s in unforgettable, who knew?)

If I were an emotion, I would be: What I am this moment, sincerely OK with the world.

If I were a scent, I would be: Cut grass, green, sweet and fresh.

If I were a sound, I would be: The hum of a well-loved motor.

If I were an element, I would be: Copper, yellow orange when new, blue green when oxidized, and an excellent conductor. CU

If I were a song, I would be: Romantic and old and soft and touching.

If I were a food, I would be: Home made chili on/in a split open baked potato with butter between the chili and the potato.

If I were a place, I would be: Here where I belong.

If I were a material, I would be: Worn, yet still strong denim, that sky-blue shade, with a smooth-rough texture.

If I were a taste, I would be: What tastes good to you.

If I were a religion, I would be: A belief in the here and now, in being good for goodness sake, in love for all creatures.

If I were a word, I would be: Mary, that’s my name. Short, old and Irish-Catholic.

If I were an object, I would be: The little blue computer that hooks me up to you and to the rest of the world.

If I were a body part, I would be: An eye that sees everything, and accepts it ll for what it is.

If I were an expression, I would be: Mathematical and cool. And most of all, true.

If I were a shape, I would be: A polygon with a side for everyone.

If I were a number, I would be: Two, at a time, is generally plenty.

If I were a month, I would be: The one we’re in the middle of - whatever it is. Or maybe the next month for new beginnings and resolutions. And hope for better things.

If I were a time of day, I would be: The time when the sun rises and the time when the sun sets. Both magic times when night and day meet, when the sky lightens and darkens, miracles of every day.

If I were a direction, I would be: Close before striking. Right turn only. Look before crossing. Smile.

If I were a sin, I would be: Quitting. We must never give up. Ever.

If I were a virtue, I would be: Kindness, to all, all the time.

If I were a method of death, I would be: Going to sleep and not waking up.
