… and thus....

Yesterday was Sunday, and we stuck around home. Sticking around home included:

  • a trip to the creek where Gracie splashed
  • a walk to the spring in the woods where we saw butterflies.
  • a climb to the top of the sidehill
  • a rest on a log
  • a trip in the Ice Cream Truck across the creek and up the road to the clearing and then - wonder of wonders - a circuit of the clearing in the Ice Cream Truck with the air conditioning on!!!!

And then.....

  • we drank wine. First the rest of the bottle left from Fayze’s - a Washington State Riesling.
  • then a glass or two or so from the box of Chardonnay with the good valve.
  • we made plans to marinate a steak and make potato salad - the next day.

After some debate we ordered a Casey’s pizza and went to town and picked it up.

I got tired.

Today:

  • we left the house at 9:30 almost on the dot.
  • we took the scenic route to Maggies Diner, where we had a nice breakfast and drank coffee and discussed a million things
  • we went to Pike’s Peak - yes there are mountains in Iowa. We looked at the view and then tried out the trails. We managed to find out way back to the parking lot.
  • we went to River Town books. I bought books. Surprised? Don’t be.
  • we went to the brat place on the river and drank three beers - total.
  • we stopped at the art center and lbh bought a photograph that turned out to be a painting.
  • we went to Effigy Mounts and looked at their visitor center slash museum and then hiked up their bluff. We saw river rivers, saw Indian mounds, met a Wheaton Terrier and again(!) found our way back to the parking lot.
  • we went to town and bought groceries.
-we came home and marinated the steak and made potato salad.

Pictures?
Nothing too exciting.
