When you are on a ship for a long time you become aware of the range of seabids around you - and we saw guillemots, puffins, sheerwaters - but my favourites were the fulmars - truly sea bids since they only come to land to breed - and for the rest of the time are at sea. They follow ships - in the hope of them being fishing vessels - and suddenly one afternoon on deck I took this sequence with my I Phone between Greenland and Canada
First the birds in the sky ahead of the ship
High in the sky
Alongside the ship close to the sea
and flying beside you a few feet away

very nice. I wish I wasn't terrified of ships. I was on a ferry for ten days and don't know how I survived. The Poseidon Adventure from the 70s terrified me for life.

Great pictures and a beautiful bird. Never herd of them before

Those are beautiful pictures, wow. I love sea birds, there's something so magical about them flying over open water like that.

It was quite amazing - and I felt privileged to have the opportunity to see them.I never got the chance to photograph cormorants skimming the sea - or the gannets diving for fish.
