Saturday-day 1 of 3 day weekend in Day to day life from a woman that turned 60 in Oct 2014 and who lives on a farm and Retired on January 2, 2016. I plan to do more sewing, work outside in the yard and just enjoy my retirement.

YaY!! A 3 day weekend and have been looking forward to it so much. Not anything exciting planned. Just yard and house work and some sewing interlaced throughout the time off.

Friday, as in yesterday I took the 1st step toward retirement. I have talked it and thought it but yesterday I talked to the retirement adviser. He printed out the retirement application and all the other forms that need to be submitted with it to include life insurance, tax stuff and papers to designate recipients of remaining retirement fund when I die. Heh. That form puts things in perspective for sure!! He marked the “no brainer” boxes and then I brought the packet home to fill out over the weekend. I will turn it back in to him to send to the Civilian Pers Office and then eventually I’ll receive notification that it was received at the Army Benefits Ctr. Not any fear crept in yesterday while talking with him and answering the questions he marked. It was yes or no questions and they were easy ones. LoL

I think my biggest fear is that I have waited longer than I should have, but not going to waste time on something I can’t change. January 2, 2016 is the day and if his and my calculations are correct, I’ll be clearing more money after I retire than while working. Of course that is because several of the deductions will reduce but the expense of working will be gone. My plan is to tell my boss AFTER I hear back from ABC area that they have it and will prepare for me to retire. There are soo many people who pull their retirement at the last minute that they won’t get too serious until December. I know for a fact one lady in our Organization has put in for retirement at least 4 Xs that I know of and pulled her paperwork every time. She is still working and has way more years than I do, but everyone has to make their own choice. I think it would be to her advantage to retire too as she lives at least an hour away from work. I live about 30 minutes from work and on good days, only 20 minutes from work. She is also higher on the ladder so she should be in better shape.

On to new adventures in 2016!!!

Owen spent the night with us last night and is still sleeping. I’ve been outside a lot this morning and have fed the critters, watered plants and picked up some things and getting the yard ready to mow a bit later. I’m getting hungry too. Not sure what I’ll fix for breakfast and not sure when owen’s mom is coming to get him but pretty sure within the hour. Not sure where he is going but I won’t mind if he stays with me this morning. I have some things he can help with and he is always wanting to do things to help me. I’m so glad he is even though now I don’t “need” the help, but I can use the help. Make sense? Hope so.

I seem to have cluttered my kitchen again. I’m so bad or good at stacking things I intend to go through later. Time management is not a strong point for me. Oh I can keep busy for sure but have a well laid out plan is getting harder and harder for me it seems. I would really like to go to Joann’s and Hobby Lobby this weekend but I know they will be jam packed this weekend. Might just shop online and leave the crowds to themselves. Also need to go the store for some stuff and our local grocery store is having a pretty good sale on pork steak and some other things.

The weather folks are predicting rain for Monday and hot temps today and tomorrow. Guess if I’m going to mow it will either be before 10am or after 6pm. Not in a big rush to mow since we haven’t had any rain for a couple of weeks. The weeds along the fence line are even wilted. That’s dry!!

:Hope everyone has a wonderful, safe, and great weekend. I know Fall is close and even though I’ll welcome the cooler temps, I’m not looking forward to winter. Even if I won’t have to worry about driving to work after the 1st, I still don’t relish the predictions of snow fall. I’ll have to make sure I have gas for the generator and a stash of fabric. Oh wait. I do have a stash but may need to add to it. ;)

God Bless and take care!
