“They’re up to some crazy shit in Utica”
they think in Syracuse in Albany
they think in Saratoga
if I am to be taken
as a fair example.
am I?
I have no idea.

At Caffe Lena not far from the racetrack
in-between old walls once haunted by
the Dylans and the Baezes
the Guthries and the Seegers and all of that
another reader Brian
who’d visited our own open mic once or twice
said after I’d read
that I fit well into the Utica scene
as if to say
“they’re up to some crazy shit in Utica”
what else could I take it to mean?

I don’t know.
Maybe we are up to some crazy shit.
I hope we are.
