her superpower was this
the worst futures that were possible
she had terrible nightmare about them
but when she woke up in a screaming sweat
they could no longer happen
her nightmares used their timelines up
her nightmares devoured a thousand
atomic holocausts when she was barely just a kid
they would’ve happened but they never did
only because she lived through each of them
one white-hot hell-ride at a time
she didn’t know she was doing this
her parents thought she just watched too much news
the counselors thought she was missing a fuse
but her terrors ate apocalypse like popcorn
all she had to do was suffer them one night
one night each
a lifetime of one nights each
this is the only reason we’re here to talk about it
