  • They make you a lower class
  • They’re unprofessional
  • They’re too permanent
  • Everybody regrets them someday
  • The untattooed body looks nicer
  • It destroys the body
  • It hurts
  • He doesn’t know anybody with them
  • The concept of tattoos makes him physically uncomfortable
  • His advice is to never get them
  • He just doesn’t like them

I wish I was making this up. He’s one of those people that has pre-formed opinions, and will use whatever he can to “support” it, while putting his fingers in his ears going “lalalalalala” at any counterarguments. I really don’t care if he doesn’t want tattoos. That’s fine. It’s that he judges anybody who DOES, and thinks NOBODY should have them.

He doesn’t realize the little bubble he lives in. It’s kind of sad actually. It’s okay to have differing opinions. It’s NOT okay to then expect anybody to have your opinions. It is NOT okay to tell people what they can and can’t do with their bodies.

My dad LOVES going on about having kids is some mandatory “life experience” that “everybody” should have. I’d like to see some statistics about the number of people that regret kids, versus a tattoo. A bad tattoo only hurts yourself. Kids have more consequences, wouldn’t you say? (Whenever my dad goes on about how women should get married and have kids to have a “full life”, my sister, my aunt Gita, and I totally call him out on it.)

(He’s also the type to blindly agree with statements that sound right, because you’d be a douchebag not to. Like, if I were to say, without context, “People should do what they want with their lives” he might blindly agree. But give examples that wouldn’t agree with? He wouldn’t catch the hypocrisy.)

His statement about regret really says something about him. What’s the point of going through life without doing some things you might regret? Unless you get a giant cock on your face, I’d say a couple tattoos are on the lower end of things to regret. Everybody should have one dumb tattoo - if they choose. My first tattoo, the Starfleet delta, is meaningful. I purposely made my second tattoo, a heart on my buttcheek, completely meaningless because WHY THE FUCK NOT. GET DUMB TATTOOS.
