Let's just walk about... in blackpropaganda

The main way that cruise companies make their money is on the shore excursions when you reach a port. They are heavily publicised beforehand - and you are encouraged to book before departure in case they are all full. We have not booked any! We like to do out own thing, even if we may be missing the world’s greatest.... - admittedly we did enjoy those in St Petersburg - but they were the only way of seeing the city.
Actually I started looking at the ‘ports’ we are visiting - and many have nothing much in them - particularly those in Greenland - we have three stops there - and I suspect it will be raining a lot of the time.
The other aspect is cost - you could spend £80 for two of you for one trip - so work out how much that would be for ten or so.
We will get off, have a walk a round - have some refreshments - do more walking - and then get back on board. Actually if the weather is not great you may not be able to get off since the three stops in Greenland are tendered from the ship to the port.
Thanks for the notes on the last entry - we are expecting hot and humid in Montreal - and look forward to seeing the city - and also cruising up and down the St Lawrence. Not sure I can enthuse about Gaspe and Saguenay.
I got the Kindle loaded up with books yesterday - but I find I really do not read much - even in bed since normally I am ready for sleep. When in doubt turn to a Dickens’ novel loaded for free!!!!
BasicallyI have been reacting against all the enthusiastic friends who think it will all be wonderful - let’ see how it goes.
Meanwhile the rain is one the way here - with big winds - so luckily we are still on dry land.
