Why are so may people offended when I say that I think referring to grown women as “girls” bothers me?

I get that “it’s just a word” thing and “but men are called boys too!!” Uhh, not really. People casually refer to women as “girls” ALL the time and it feels patronizing. And the “sticks and stones” thing isn’t true. Words DO harm.

I understand that it’s difficult for some people to see how our society is patriarchal. I understand that not everyone wants to see it that way, and that’s fine. This is just how I see things, through a feminist perspective.

And I’m quite tired of people assuming that I hate men and I think women are “better.” I’m not of that camp. And no there is no “fine line” between misandry and feminism. If you think that’s what feminism is, perhaps you should talk to an actual feminist.
