All very mixed,,, in blackpropaganda

One thing you find out in life is that however much you plan ahead there is always something likely to turn up which changes things.
So this week we never expected younger son and family to come over to see us - but they all decided to come to the funeral of the friend’s wife - and they were able to stay overnight which allowed us to have a meal together and chat through things.
Then we found that an old colleague had died - and his funeral was yesterday - so we went along and it is always good to see other old colleagues - basically checking out how we all are! The ceremony took place in the chapel of the funeral directors - and was a mix of some religion and good readings - and some Bob Dylan. We knew the family well at one time when out kids were growing up - and both parents suffered from depression - the widow was unable to be there since she has Alzheimer’s and the sons make a motley crew - I suspect the two eldest are autistic although that was never diagnosed then - and the youngest is gay - and did a great address.
Apart from the Supreme Court decision on gay marriage it is difficult to listen to the news this week with terrorism at the forefront of the headlines, Greece going bankrupt (actually G is bankrupt already) - and this issue of what to do with migrants showing the worst features of politics in Europe.
Of course the UK media (as with any national media outlet) have concentrated on the issues affecting their audience - whether stuck in cars at Calais assailed by migrants - or being shot on a beach in Tunisia. Many people can put themselves in the position of those affected - but the inflammatory language and speculation makes thing worse. But then, it was ever thus!
And we enjoyed Paloma Faith at Glastonbury on tv - and even more the set by Burt Bacharach - fifty years of writing great music - not that is a good news story

As is the news that the England women’s soccer team are in the semi-finals of the World Cup in Edmonton - the best ever - and showing the men’s team are a load of wankers!
And something to brighten the mood
