gear in poetry

A gear is just a wheel with teeth.
A wheel is just a square with one edge.
An edge is just where one thing ends.
An end just meets up with another gear.
And it goes on that way forever or
at least for years years and years.

But it’s okay, perfect isn’t interesting.
Perfect doesn’t allow the happy mistakes
that are what an evolution makes.
Perfect is stagnant at best.
Perfect’s shoved into books to be pressed.
Perfect never survives a long-term test.

A gear is just a wheel with teeth.
A wheel is just a square with one edge.
An edge is just where one thing ends.
An end just meets up with another gear.
And it goes on that way forever or
at least for years years and years.
