This is the forth spring - summer have taken a long time to warm up to the temperatures we expect [hope] this time of the year, we had been to Delabole to take Ziggy to his groomer; she has Beardies and understand their ways. She was be just right as Ziggy is always exited as we get close to the small village, getting there is quite an adventure.

The last mile or so is a single track road winding down to the village, this time going down I came bumper to bumper with a local, before I got into reverse he was going down to a spot where we could pass with out exchanging paint of the sides of our car’s. In the village there was no where to park, so Daughter and Ziggy got out and I went on through the village, turning on the road would be a 21 point turn, as I have dun before I reverse into someone’s drive.

I waited at the edge of the village, a spot where other cars can pass – just! Quite often large lorries come through, then it is clear the village; I could not live in this village. Ziggy is with the groomer for an hour and a half, so we go to Delabole, of course we met the same local come back, and once more he knew where we could pass; mostly we don’t see another car coming or going – but no so this time …..

Once back in Delabole we park next to the Hole of Cornwall, this hole is a slate quarry going bake to when the Romans were quarrying slate there, and there is quarrying still going today. While I wait my Daughter takes Lola for a walk, I had walk party round the hole – quarry, down at the bottom the lorries and diggers look very small, there is no sound coming up from the quarrying; bellow their work continues in silence.

On my retune journey three huge trackers with spraying trailers pass going the other way, this is on the road before I turn into the narrow road, we get down to the village with seeing a huge tracker or the friendly local, on the edge of the village and daughter get out, there I can turn the car round in just the usual three points. After a short time I see Daughter and a happy Ziggy coming, we give him a drink as we suppose he is to exited to drink the water there.

Half way up the single track road [lane] I find my self in front of a huge tracker coming down, he dose not hurry to revise so I revise slowly weaving between rocky sides and Cornish Walls, a sort of man made rocky sides! After navigating two bends in the lane I saw the it widening out on the third bend; tucked into the side I watch the tractor go by thinking with these huge tyres he could have just driven right over my car ….

Our roads here like most of the world have white lines up the middle, if they don’t we know there is a squeeze ahead, this road only had white line here and there. There is a road I can use to get here quicker, I’ve used it twice the first time there were no other cars on, I’ve never seen a road narrower than that one, I used it a second time because of road works, again there were no cars about but there were two ladies walking their dogs!

In a sporting way even the ladies leaning against the wall, even then I could not get by safely, and one of the ladies was not built speed so I followed them very slowly; I was careful to keep a long gap! A quarter mile on we got to a gate way into a field, they open the gate and went into the field laughing, I stopped a moment to thank them and then I shot off just in case someone wanted to drive through!!!

This lane I haven’t used since two years ago has two white lines, one at reach end ………………
