15-06.12.110 in Book Two: The Fifteenth Year of the Third Millennium of the Common Era

This will be quick and teeny tiny.

I was just talking to my parents and checked on the status of some job stuff. Looked closer and this interview I have on Monday is for a Part Time Job. That only offers 25k per year. So… I’d have to move 300 miles East into a market with very few apartments and very few job opportunities for my wife… for a part time job with no benefits and a scarce salary? This job is not looking like a positive. However… I do need work… and spending time as a Part Time Assistant County Attorney may help me get a job somewhere else as a full time assistant county attorney.

But as I was looking at that… the website updated. This is a website that I’ve been gazing at off and on for the last several weeks and it hasn’t updated at all. Today… it updated AS I was on the website. And the job? Dream Job Title. Dream Job Location. Dream Job Salary. Not dream job duties. But you’d better believe I applied THAT INSTANT. The job is a full time w/benefits Assistant County Attorney position in Dallas County… I grew up in Polk County. The county Seats are less than 30 miles away from each other. I’d be 30 minutes away from my parents and back-home friends, an hour away from my niece! I would be 2.5 hours away from my best friend and 3 hours away from my in-laws… but that is about the same with the Part Time Job. The duties described were… working collections. I’d be more in the civil department of the County Attorney’s Office. Not my ideal but… shit, son… if I could get full time work that had decent health benefits and actually paid me.... AND it was that much closer to the people I need/want to be close to? I mean… I’m not getting my hopes up. Hell… out of 11 applications, I’ve only had 2 interviews scheduled so far… but… there are really only two locations that matter for us. Any county directly touching Polk County; or any county directly touching Buchanan County. As I’ve already applied to Benton Linn, and Black Hawk with no results… that means I’ve tried 3 times out of 7 counties to move us back to Wife’s family. This Dallas County position is (albeit, possibly a Hail Mary) a chance to move us back to where the both of us lived from 2007- 2011.
