Whet ever it says on your northern hemisphere calendar, for most people today is the first day of summer, and by the meteorological seasons it is the first day of summer first of June, but by astronomical seasons summer will began on the twenty first of June! I have seen the latter date more often than the date of the meteorological seasons reckonings, but if today’s date is right why am I lighting a fire this afternoon …………..
Meteorological Seasons.
Northern Hemisphere
Spring: 1 March to 31 May
Summer: 1 June to 31 August
Autumn: 1 September to 30 November
Winter: 1 December to 28 February
Astronomical Seasons.
Northern Hemisphere.
Spring: 21 March to 20 June.
Summer: 21 June to 20 September.
Autumn: 21 September to 20 December.
Winter: 21 December to 20 March.
I hope by the twenty first of this month I’m still lighting fires, my wife as washed all her winter clothes and packed them away! I use the layers method, the most layers is around January and February, by July and August I should be down to one layer; but I’m still at two or three layers – I think something wrong!
