We .. the old rails are that. Stuff that I hired out with, doesn’t hold water now. I am glad I hired out, with this mentality, although harsh, made me and others good rails. Why ?, because you were tested if you had any promise of being trusted and/or capable. They, the old heads would get ya run off.
Late 2005 Pueblo yard
I wasn’t involved in this, but was related to me afterward. BNSF Diversity training. I did that previous in Ft Worth, but this was for the Pueblo yard switch crews.
Heather ( is her first name, I can’t remember the last ) came down to Pueblo to make the old rails, diverse and politically correct. I guess this was the kinder and gentler BNSF. A Denver Ad-Min gal who had no clue. Little did she know, what she was in for.
Heather was there, some switch crews were there, but they would, not happily assemble. Heather, bouncing and rah-rah said, “I am so glad to see you all here, is everyone available, so we can complete the program and get you to your jobs.”
These guys are my age, plus or minus 2 or 3 years, and there is no interest. It’s what ever, let’s get this over with, so we can get with the real program.
Heather: “Is everyone here, or are we missing someone?”
Steve Moore says “We are missing one. I’ll check and get him here”. LOL sorry, this guy is and has a BA in organic and inorganic chemistry. He goes to the hallway to the Trainmasters office. He yells…
“Hey, ya Fucking Mexican, Get yer Goddamned fat ass in here, this lady is waiting to teach us something!!”.
Heather is aghast and says “I think this is not going on the right track”. LOL Miss, ya think…Yep Pueblo yard and us rails
