Joy and sadness in blackpropaganda

Of course the coverage for the new addition to the Royal Family has been over the top - special supplements in the Sunday papers with lots of old pics - and not much else to say - still there is a warm feeling that it is a girl - although I could do without the fountains in Trafalgar Square turning pink.
It almost seemed choreographed for the newspapers - plenty of time to put copy together - and no hanging a round - ten hours after birth on the way home - so all the photographers could get their stuff in, and straight round the pub!

Just to counterpoint that - yesterday it was announced that the wife of the soccer player Rio Ferdinand has died of cancer at the age of 34 leaving three young children. That makes me really sad. We have a friend who had the same tragic loss in his 30s, leaving very small kids - his wife had encouraged him to marry again before she died - and it was great to go to his wedding last year when he re-married a lovely woman - they were obviously in love. There are silver linings.

On the home front we had a fire last night - it had been a cold grey day and then lots of rain. The back garden has some flooding this morning. As I write it seems to have stopped - but we just hope the temperature rises and we can get out for a walk.

And another Elvgren - another dog, and a woman who can make music between her legs!!!
