I walked down to the city today to buy a birthday present for my mum. I don’t usually buy her or any of my family birthday presents, but since she’ll be in my city tomorrow, I thought I’d make the effort. Also I appreciate having the love of one of my parents and I want to show my appreciation.

After looking around David Jones and Myer at a few different scarves (Yeah, I decided on a scarf) and being harassed by a few sales assistants, I got over the exuberant prices they were asking for shit quality scarves ($50 for polyester??) and ended up walking out empry-handed. Mid-year sale my ass.
I did look at a few wool ones that were nice for around the $70 mark though but nah, thought I’d keep looking.

I wandered into Cotton On and am stunned at how much its changed since I worked there. It’s at least four times the size to begin with. But I soon realized its just four times the amount of shit we used to sell for $40 a pop. Asian tourists will buy anything though.

I’m hardly a fashion expert though. I have noooo idea how I worked there for around a year or so ha. I ended up walking into a ‘Laura Ashley’ store, just taking a chance, and walked out with a 100% silk blue patterned scarf. I really hope mum likes it. It probably won’t match her other scarves for warmth in winter, but it should accessorize a few of her tops nicely. I think it’ll suit her blue/green eyes also.

So yeah that was down from $77 to $55 but scanned at $44 at the register, so that was nice :)

I took a pic of it, but will have to edit it in here when I get home. I hate that I can’t add pics from mobiles in this day and age. First world problems.

I’ll surprise her with it tomorrow.
I’m looking forward to what our conversation will be, as this simply isn’t a taboo topic anymore, to her at least.

Edit: Just putting up some piccies of it. Wasn’t really sure how to display them, so just pretend it looks good on me with my lame tee haha.

Obviously mother will rock it 10 fold compared to me, and my blue tee doesn’t compliment it too well!
