Jacob is finally getting better. Thank you all for your prayers. I took him back to the doctor’s yesterday and he finally consented to get a shot. YAY! That was an answered prayer!! He will continue with the breathing treatments and the oral antibiotic and take the last of the steroids. I will take him back again tomorrow so his oxygen level can be checked, I hope, for the last time. Then, God willing, we can resume our normal routine on Monday. I can’t say that I’ve missed being at work. As a matter of fact, this has only enhanced my desire to retire.
My brother did take my dad to his VA appointments on Tuesday. I’m really not sure what dad was expecting to happen at these appointments but he seemed to be disappointed that “all they did” was clean out his ears at the ENT clinic and clip his toenails at the podiatrist. He insisted that I make these appointments for him a few weeks ago so I did, then seemed put out because that was all they did. I have noticed that he is more feeble these days. I know we can’t predict our transition from this life to the other, but unless things improve for him, mentally and physically, he ain’t looking too bright. He still lives by himself and putters around and still drives short distances. But he is just looking more vulnerable and fragile to me lately.
I received a friend request on FB yesterday and was surprised to see that it was a cousin that I haven’t had contact with in many many years. Matter of fact I went to her FB page to make sure she was who I thought she was. This is a cousin on my mom’s side of the family. They live in FL and always have. It will be good to re-connect with this set of relatives. I’m not even sure they were notified when my mom passed as there hadn’t been any contact for years.
A frost was predicted for this morning so I brought my baby veggies inside. Well one of the containers I just moved to the porch up against the brick and think it will be safe. Not sure if has or will dip below 32 but will leave them where they are until the sun comes out. The sun is hitting the trees on the bluff now so it shouldn’t take it long to warm up to a plant friendly temperature. I’ve planted green pepper seeds 2 times now and not any have germinated. I know they take a few days longer than other seeds but this is getting old. I’m sure I’ll have to buy pepper plants now even if they do decide to come up as it is getting to late for them to bear I’m afraid. Oh well. Lesson learned and will get a different brand next year. And throw away those packages that haven’t had any results.
I think I have a lot of you fooled. Many of you think that I just work around here all the time. lol I don’t and have not done much at all this week. I have done some sewing and have done things around here and there but generally speaking, didn’t earn my keep. lol I’ve paid bills online and yesterday afternoon I made reservations to take J to Branson in May. I’d paid for the mini vacation last year and am running out of time for extensions. I believe he will be much better and hopefully enjoys the couple days there. He didn’t seem to too impressed when I told him we would be going in May, but hopefully he will be excited once the day arrives.
Dude and I are going to clean the shop. On the 2d of May is the big day. I will order a roll off dumpster to be brought down here and the act of cleaning will begin. It could be very stressful for me as Dude wants to get rid of anything I have in the shop. I will try and let most of it go but there will be some things that we may just have a stand off about. I have one small corner with a table on it that has containers of things. That little area seems to be his focus. MY focus is the 3 HUGE toolboxes that the grands have ransacked. There are things everywhere and they all need to be gathered and put in the correct places. Yep, I know this needs to happen but I also dread it.
I put my big mop bucket together this morning, although I didn’t really have to “put it together”. Just used a rubber mallet to put the 4 wheels on the bottom and snap the squeeze handle in the slot. Will try it out today and see if it what I was hoping for to use the industrial mop I bought last year. The twist in this little idea is getting the mop water poured out once I’m done but I can roll it outside and pour it there I think. Oy Vay. Me and my brain are such good friends too. lol
Ending this Thursday entry now and may start on a doll dress. Take care and God Bless
