Much Gratitude and Some Dismay in Everyday Ramblings

I want to make friends with the people that live here so I can go hang out in their yard. :)

Finally the results of my uncomfortable Ultrasound came back and the exceedingly good news is that there is no sign of cancer! I actually think Kes might be more relieved than me for obvious reasons. Another sister with cancer would have been too much to bear right now. The obvious fear was that the melanoma had gone metastatic into my girl parts.

The not quite so good news is that I have stuff growing in there; non-cancerous stuff that is causing me all this discomfort. They have me scheduled to see a senior faculty member gynecologist who believes in non-invasive solutions (no hysterectomy if possible) that delivered a coworker’s daughters baby last year. She adored him and he is a great guy, I know him from years ago when I worked in that department.

But… and of course there is one, the appointment is eight weeks out.

After a really challenging night Sunday I am feeling better today. From what I understand this will be chronic until, and if, I can get it addressed.

It is so weird; it is like the stress of my sister’s death and work and or a virus just started tooling around my body highlighting weaknesses. The problem in my mouth, the strange blood blisters on my skin, and now this.

What I really want addressed though is the fatigue!

Kes thinks I am slightly nuts considering what I am doing to say I am experiencing fatigue but I am. I almost fell asleep at my desk yesterday afternoon and I am getting to bed at a reasonable hour and not pushing it. I hope the getaway at the beach will help with this.

I trotted around the track only once last week and it was effortful. I finished my eight-week stair climbing challenge this morning though so that is something. In my regular life I am rocking stairs now in a way I have never done before. I enjoy getting to the top and not feeling winded or that it was work to get up.

I taught last night and it was an interesting class. I had fun and I hope my students did too. Two of them had just returned from France so we had some jet lag in the room. In spite of that we all went on a journey together getting to know the big deep muscles of our derrieres and what they do for us. Did you know that your butt muscles pull your big leg bones into place in your hip socket when you stand up?

They do a lot of work for us that is important and good.

So in case you are in the mood to criticize the view back there you might want to think twice and thank those big complicated muscles for all they do for you today.

I am adding mine to my gratitude list for sure.
