On my way, once again. in A small but passable life.

I’m sitting at the airport, two-and-a-half hours before my flight. I just had Jassy and Clayton drop me off before their class rather than be in a hurry to do it during their morning break. Less hassle and bustle.

We spent Monday evening over at the student union until 11pm and Tuesday evening over at the university library until 2am. The only thing I managed to get done online was to get caught up with Grey’s Anatomy and get caught up with ONE of my bookmarks. And maybe just a couple of my youtube subscriptions.

Yesterday I took a last walk first thing in the morning. A couple of hours, maybe five miles. The afternoon was an hour of running errands with Jassy. Only took us an hour. We had went to the library and got four packets of garden seeds apiece from the seed bank. It’s a pretty cool program. And then later in the evening we test drove the van. It is running fine. there is a bit a hesitancy while aggressively mashing the accelerator but other than that it seems fine.

I went to bed early last night and slept well until the rain woke me up at about 3:30 this morning. I will miss the lazy mornings in the van. Oh, well.

I finally got all my gear sorted and stashed neatly away in Jassy’s spare bedroom. I only left a few items that needed laundered and put away.

This morning, after Jassy had done a late night tub scrubbing from the first shower I’d taken upon returning from the woods, I took another shower and left, once again, a pretty impressive collection of mud/scrum. I felt bad.

The flight I’m waiting on leaves at 12:35pm and arrives in Mesa at 1:25pm. Less than an hour for a nearly three hour flight.

My cousin Doug and his wife will be picking me up at the airport. I’m hoping they’ll be able to tell me how they think Mom is really doing.

I managed to fit everything into my new knapsack. I have the clothes I’m wearing, my convertible hiking pants, socks, T-shirt and my slippers. The only clothes I packed were two pair of boxers, my swimsuit, my hankies, and my flip-flops. That’s it. I left clothes at Mom’s the last visit. Premonition? Anyway, I don’t plan on wearing socks or long pants the whole time I’m out there. I mean, I didn’t even really need them in the winter.

I didn’t bring my hiking boots because I remembered that the hiking club (the only way Mom will approve of me venturing into the desert) doesn’t go out if the temperature for the day is forecast to be 90 degrees or above. And the 90 degree days are starting Tuesday. Oh, well. I guess a full month of Ozark’s hiking was enough for awhile.

Jassy is pretty bummed about me not be around to help her house hunt. But I think she’ll do just fine. We figured out a point system to rate the potential candidates. We think it’ll help out immensely.

I do plan on transcribing my journal entries for the missing month on here, as soon as I catch up on everything else. I’ll be sitting out on the patio, away from the damn TV. I’m just not in the mood for the cacophony right now. Or ever, really.

So yeah, I’ve got two more hours to wait.
