The Rodeos at Mequite,TX 1997-2001 in Misc. Thoughts opinions, the whole trash can.

My wife is the brains of this family. I was doing Locomotive Utilization with BNSF at the NOC in North Ft. Texas. She worked with Marsh McLlennan at that time as a Senior VP. She always got tickets to Football, Basketball, Hockey, and other venues. She passed on the Cowboys and Mavericks, because we really were not fans of those teams. The Stars, well I made sure when I could, get Stars tickets to the teams I wanted. I still follow the Stars.

Sometimes, she’d have clients, from the east coast that had never attended a Rodeo. Marsh had a suite, if ya want to call it that, at the Resistol Arena.

Resistol Arena Mesquite, TX 1998

Resistol Arena was named for …? Cowboys …??? Anybody??? Hands???
They make Cowboy hats.. Yup, and they ain’t cheap. They also sponsor weekly rodeos and Championship qualifiers. It is a great time.

They poured money into the old Arena and did a Steel girder braced roof, fans to help cool the place, and if ya had a suite .. Dun got yer own lil air conditioner yewnit. EEEEHHHHH HHHAwwww! Plus ya could open up the winder fer the real feel!! This place was always sold out or damn near close.

I met her, at the arena, and she made sure the food, Beer n Wine was ready for the guests. This is a great venue and have been here several times. I enjoyed it greatly.

The “Rodeo Arena Band” was just above the chutes, and played western and Cowboy tunes.

The Runaway Bull:

This wasn’t staged, because you could tell.. the band wasn’t clued in. The arena Wranglers were staging, and no one was ready for this. Out comes a bull, ready to kick ass. These people are professionals, and they can wrangle ‘em in. The Arena is loud, so the dynamics change. It got loose and here I am.

It was agitated and elusive. So they got into a formation to lasso and get it back to the corral. The Bull, is crafty as well, so Plan B. The Rodeo dummy, and the Rodeo clowns. These guys are their weight in gold, because they distract the bulls, so they can be roped. They distract, the Bull is disoriented. The Dummy is dropped down, and the Bull is LIVID. It hits the Dummy, looks around, confused, and the Dummy hits it in its ass. Stunned, the Wranglers, hone in and rope it.

A lead roper has control, and herds to the stalls. A flick of the wrist the rope is free,and it is channeled into the holding pens. The Arena announcer is talking his diatribe. The band is playing. The Rodeo goes on. Her guests…LOL dunno..
