All quiet in Westminster in Flaming June

Running digital content at the Global Law Summit. Plenary auditorium and 6 or 7 breakout rooms, running presentations in powerpoint mostly. Sometimes these gigs can get frantic, you’re running around all day trying to get hold of content from the speakers and get it onto the machines and checked and running. Sometimes you don’t see the speakers until two minutes before their presentation starts ad they hand you a data stick and say “Its called something like ‘21st Century Litigation’… or something similar” and you open the stick and there are 150 folders and documents on it, all named according to an impenetrable number/initial system.
These conference halls can be quite big, and you cover tens of miles a day across the spaces, ferrying content back and forth.
However, the computers are networked here, which means that Kul, Stephen and I are sitting in a large open plan office, putting the content onto the server and the in-house technicians in the breakout rooms select the presentation they need and load it.
Sometimes you eat the job, sometimes the job eats you.
The last 4 or 5 jobs I’ve done have been full on, 18 hour day marathons of stress and sweat. Today I’m feeling mildly guilty that I’m not working harder. There’s plenty of time and people, and everything seems under control.
I keep expecting some crisis to emerge. Nothing so far.
A good time to catch up with prose box perhaps.
Of course, I don’t want to be here. No. I want to be with Surfer, in the camper on our way to Catalunya and the finch. I’m getting a little impatient for Spring and I haven’t been to Spain for over a year. We’ll take off in mid-March, Surfer and me and the dogs of course. Drive down through France and feel the wind in our hair.
I can’t wait.

Ah the last paragraph ties this entry back to faith in the way the world should work.

So good to hear from you and see you doing well. The cab business? Better than many gigs I've had and not so good as others. I bet you would be a great cabbie. Jealous about the finca, thinking of Bangkok myself.

I was reading The Third Plate and he talks about rural Spain, the fish farms and the acorn fattened goose livers and was hoping to read that you all were going back sometime soon.
