Regroup.
Reboot.
Re-evaluate.

Reject all expectations,
bad and good,
they’re two sides of that sucker bet “faith”.

Faith that good things are gonna happen and
faith that bad things are gonna happen
are the two sharp toothy jaws
of the same bear trap that leads
to sitting around doing nothing
having faith that something terrible or great
is gonna come along and render any action moot.

Hope, instead.
Hope like hell and try like two or three hells.
Faith is a butterfly’s fart in a tornado
against hope’s subtle but unmistakable stiff breeze.
Hope is better.

Like the runaway truck
careening toward that school bus
I can turn this around
fate is not fully bound
I just need more than I can currently take.

Like a runaway truck with the lines cut
I only need two or three more breaks.
